Why Most Men Need an AI at 500mg Per Week
Testosterone aromatises into estradiol, and at 500 mg per week the conversion runs fast enough that most men see estradiol climb to a problematic level without intervention. Water retention, nipple sensitivity, blood pressure creeping up and mood instability are the usual signs that estrogen has got ahead of you.

Timing With the Injection Schedule
Pinning twice a week, Monday and Thursday, is standard at 500 mg. Why Not Daily Dosing
Exemestane's plasma half-life is about 24 hours, but its effect on aromatase lasts four to five days because the deactivation is irreversible. Daily 12.5 mg destroys enzyme faster than new enzyme appears, and in moderate aromatisers estradiol drops below the useful range within one to two weeks. Reading Blood Work to Dial In the Dose
Blood work at week four or five is the only reliable confirmation that the dose is working. By then testosterone and estradiol from twice-weekly injections have reached steady state. Order an LC/MS or "sensitive" estradiol assay; the standard ECLIA test cross-reacts with other steroids in men on cycle and reads high.

Crashed Estrogen: Recognition and Recovery
Because exemestane is irreversible, stopping the AI does not bring quick recovery. New aromatase has to be synthesised, and that takes time.
Crashed estrogen symptoms:

TRT Dose vs a 500mg Blast
The 500 mg protocol is substantially different from what TRT requires, and confusing the two is one of the most common AI mistakes.
On TRT at 100–200 mg per week most men need no AI; when one is indicated by blood work it is 12.5 mg once or twice weekly, never EOD, and the dosage guide covers TRT dosing in full. Aromasin at the PCT Transition
Exemestane holds one advantage at PCT that anastrozole and letrozole do not. Non-steroidal AIs can suppress IGF-1 and blunt the FSH and LH response that Nolvadex and Clomid are trying to trigger; exemestane carries no such interaction, which makes it the preferred AI through the PCT window.
Standard PCT use after a 500 mg cycle: 12.5 mg EOD for the first two to three weeks alongside Nolvadex 40/40/20/20 or Clomid 50/50/25/25, then taper to every third day and stop as the SERM handles the remainder. Start at 12.5 mg every other day and draw a sensitive estradiol at week four or five. If it reads 20–40 pg/mL, hold the dose. Move to 25 mg EOD only if the result is above 50 pg/mL with symptoms. Starting conservatively and adjusting from data beats front-loading a dose without knowing your aromatisation rate.
No symptoms does not mean estradiol is in range. Some men carry high estrogen without obvious signs until blood pressure, lipids or early gyno show up later. Body fat raises aromatase activity enough that the 500 mg row often behaves like the 750 mg one. Losing fat before the cycle lowers the AI requirement more than any dosing change.

Recovery depends on new enzyme synthesis because the deactivation is permanent. Most men see estradiol begin to rise within three to five days of the last dose, with fuller recovery over one to two weeks depending on how deep the suppression was. Both work when dosed to blood work. Aromasin is preferred because it runs into PCT without blunting the SERM-driven LH and FSH recovery that anastrozole can interfere with, and because an overshoot develops slowly enough to catch.
